The Loading Dock's origin story.
In it's original home at Houston Station, Fort Houston had an actual loading dock. Over time, the loading dock became a place to step outside and take a break from the day's stress. Makers and artists would congregate, problem solve, vent, and collaborate. It was a space to come together and support one another. When Fort Houston moved to its new location, the need for that communal space was obvious. When one of the local makers decided to open the coffee shop, it basically named itself.
We pride ourselves on being the place that our friends and neighbors can gather for that same sense of community. Not only do we work to make our space a place to escape to during the work day, but we feature many of the makers and artists that have become our regular customers. From our locally roasted coffee beans to the art displayed on our walls, we support local artists and businesses in everything we do.
